Get in the Christmas spirit with Rifftrax and ‘Santa Claus’ plus free tickets from WXRY

Fans of Mystery Science Theater may remember the Santa Claus Conquers the Martians episode from the third season, often considered one of the best in the series. Later on after Joel left, Mike got to do his own Christmas episode about Santa Claus, a movie from 1959 that involves the devil sending a henchmen named Pitch to destroy Christmas. Oh and also Merlin makes his way into the plot somehow.

While you can watch this old episode online, luckily for us the Rifftrax guys have decided to give that same movie another go live in theaters this Thursday.

If you haven’t been to a Rifftrax in a theater it’s a real blast and it’s live so you really never know what will happen. While it may not be quite the same as seeing Tom Servo and Crow’s silhouettes it’s still a lot of fun.

And if you act soon, you have a chance to win free tickets from WXRY. All you have to do is join their mailing list and you’ll be entered to win a pair of tickets.

RiffTrax Live: Santa Claus is playing at Columbiana Grande this Thursday at 8:00.

Movies Opening in Columbia: Boxtrolls, The Trip to Italy & The Equalizer

There’s not too many movies opening this week, but the ones that are look like they’re definitely worth checking out. At the top of my list since i first saw the trailer is the Boxtrolls.

Opening Thursday

The Boxtrolls

The Boxtrolls is the latest from Laika, the production company responsible for Paranorman and Coraline.

The Equalizer

I feel like Denzel Washington has made this movie a couple times before, but at any rate it looks like it should be an entertaining movie.

Opening Friday

The Trip to Italy

This is the sequel to The Trip, and stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon meandering around Italy and seemingly making up funny stuff as they go. Should be a hoot. Playing at the Nickelodeon.
