The Wolfpack, Shaun the Sheep, Fantastic Four & Irrational Man Open this Week

Some good movies are opening this week. Shaun the Sheep, from Aardman Animations, is currently at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Oh, and it’s also dialogue-free. The Wolfpack, starting Friday at the Nickelodeon, is a documentary about a group of brothers raised in captivity in NYC, learning most of what they know from movies. It looks like a riveting and unbelievable story.

Terminator Genisys, Magic Mike XXL and more open this week in Columbia

July 4 is usually a big movie weekend and with a new Terminator movie plus a new Magic Mike movie I would expect that to be the case this year.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

This is the one I want to see this week. It’s only playing for a couple days at the Nick, but maybe if they get a good response they’ll keep it around longer.

Faith of Our Fathers

Jurrassic World, Love & Mercy, Results and more open this week in Columbia

Dinosaurs of more than one sort are featured in this week’s new movies. We’ve got the re-animated type in Jurassic World and the musical type in the Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy. And since it’s the summer there are a couple movie series happening. The Nickelodeon just kicked off their Southern Gothic Series and Regal Cinemas has their family-oriented Summer Movie Express.

Jurassic World

I really hope Chris Pratt brings some Burt Macklin style to his role.

Love & Mercy

This movie is from writer/director Andrew Bujalski, known mainly as being the highest profile creator in the ‘mumblecore‘ genre.

Lambert & Stamp

I’m really looking forward to seeing this documentary about two of the early managers for The Who.

Tomorrowland, Far From the Madding Crowd, and more open this week in Columbia

The movie I’m really looking forward to this week is Tommorowland. Tomorrowland is directed by Brad Bird, co-written by Damon Lindelof (of LOST), and stars George Clooney. I just don’t see how it can fail. And if you go see it on Friday at a Regal Cinema with your Regal Crown Club card, you have a chance to get a Tomorrowland pin.

Movies Opening This Week: Mad Max Fury Road, Pitch Perfect 2 and more

A couple highly anticipated moves open this week, on two sides of the spectrum. Mad Max: Fury Road looks to be big and intense while Pitch Perfect 2 hopefully picks up where the last one left off.
